Biography

Izzy was born in the UK and almost immediately joined the Pony Club and started fox hunting with the Southdown and Eridge pack on the lead line.  Her father John, was Master of Foxhounds at the time.

She moved to Canada in 2006 and as a 7yo started competing in the hunter ring on her ponies, Salt and Pepper.  A move was made into the jumper ring on the infamous Three Cups Nimrod as an 11yo, including that year a successful trip out to Spruce Meadows.  The legendary Rusty Nail followed; he and Nimrod were a hard act to follow for many competitors.

Izzy has continued up the levels in the jumper ring up to the 1.40m level at present day.  Horses such as Three Cups Point and Fire, Cathalido, Quiz Z and Rumour Has It, all contributed to this progression.   Experience was gained in Manitoba, Spruce Meadows, Rocky Mountain Show Jumping, the Mid States shows, Omaha International, Ocala and Wellington FL.   Mentors include Tracy Grandstrand, Hermann Schweizer, Connie Dorshe, Jill Henselwood, Shauna Cook and Beth Underhill and of course, Mum, Sarah Biron of Three Cups Sporthorses.

She has the 1.50s and 1.60s firmly

in her sights, but realizes that she is not there yet.  But horses allowing, it will be soon!!

Alongside her developing jumper career, Izzy took part in eventing training and competitions, gaining valuable experience from the likes of Peter Gray and Ian Roberts.  Although eventing is not Izzy’s mainstream discipline, she enjoys cross country schooling especially on the young horses as she believes it helps develop a brave outlook and a can-do attitude in the youngsters and a chance to hit the “refresh” button in more established horses.

At age 14, Izzy was lucky enough to acquire Prix St George dressage horse Abraxus from Petra Loro and a couple of seasons were spent training and competing at Junior and Young Rider levels.  Much fun and learning was had at this time.under the tutelage of Natalie Hamilton-Hinneman, Robert Gharibzadeh and Armand Valkenborg.  Izzy continues to use this classical training in all of her horses, young and old, hunters, jumpers and equitation horses.

Along with many years of industry experience, Izzy holds Equestrian Canada Coaching certification, Including her United States equestrian federation Safe Sport accreditation
